Citizens Receives #1 Ranking in Customer Service

INDIANAPOLIS – For the second year in a row and the third time overall, customers rated Citizens Gas the best gas utility in the Midwest for service, according to an annual survey by J.D. Power & Associates.
“Between managing the worst drought in decades, streamlining our customer service functions and celebrating our 125th anniversary in the community, 2012 has proved a busy year for Citizens,” said Carey Lykins, President and CEO of Citizens Energy Group. “During a season of significant change, our employees have remained focused on what Citizens values most—providing outstanding customer service,” said Lykins.
The J.D Power and Associates study, now in its 11th year, measures residential customer satisfaction with gas companies across six factors (listed in order of importance): billing and payment; price; corporate citizenship; communications; customer service; and field service. Overall satisfaction with natural gas utility companies has increased slightly since 2011.
Citizens’ recognition comes just two weeks before the roll out of its new customer service initiative. Starting October 1, customers will receive one utility bill for both water and gas service. They will also enjoy the convenience of one website, CitizensEnergyGroup.com, and one call center that can be reached at 924-3311. “Every employee at Citizens is to be congratulated for their respective roles in serving our customers with unparalleled excellence and integrity,” said Mike Strohl, Vice President of Customer Relationships. “As we embark on even greater change with combined billing, meter reading, contact centers and websites, I am confident we will keep our focus and deliver even greater service in the years ahead.”
