Citizens Honors Seventh Jefferson Award Winner

INDIANAPOLIS – Today Citizens Energy Group recognized senior accountant Ted Foxworthy as the 2014 Jefferson Awards Gold Medal recipient.  Foxworthy is the seventh Jefferson Award winner to be named by Citizens. The Jefferson Awards program is intended to be a Nobel Prize for public service, and aims to honor people who are typically looked upon as unsung heroes in their community.

Each year for the last 10 years, Foxworthy has volunteered between 400-500 hours to youth soccer and basketball leagues. In addition, Foxworthy coaches 25-30 children at Speedway Youth Soccer. Foxworthy is not only an inspiration to young players, he has served as the organization’s treasurer for the past seven years. Since May of 2012, Foxworthy has also been a student at the Indianapolis Karate Club, and helps the organization in a number of ways while contributing an additional 40 hours of volunteer time.

Citizens is a champion company for the Jefferson Awards. The champion program offers corporations and other organizations such as universities, local government, and non-profits, a turnkey system that rewards, honors and encourages community volunteerism for their employees.  Although many champion companies select recipients throughout the year, Citizens only selects one award recipient at the end of each calendar year.

Foxworthy was chosen by the Jefferson Award’s Employee Volunteer Support Committee, and will join other award recipients throughout the U.S. for a two-day celebration and recognition in Washington, D.C. this June.
