Citizens Honors Jefferson Award Winner

INDIANAPOLIS - Today Citizens Energy Group recognized Mike Mootz, Rates and Regulatory Analyst, as the 2016 Jefferson Awards Gold Medal recipient from the company.  The Jefferson Awards program, which is considered the Nobel Prize for public service, honors people who are typically looked upon as unsung heroes in their community.

“Mike Mootz and the other Jefferson Award winners are exceptional community servants. Mike is being honored for his great work protecting the people of Sheridan, Indiana as a member of the town’s volunteer fire department,” said Jeffrey Harrison, Citizens President & CEO. “Mike’s success in securing more than $100,000 of state and federal grants has been especially important to keeping the small town’s fire and emergency response equipment up to date.”

Citizens is a champion company for the Jefferson Awards. The champion program offers corporations and other organizations, such as universities, local government, and non-profits, a turnkey system that rewards, honors and encourages community volunteerism among their employees.  Although many champion companies select recipients throughout the year, Citizens only selects one award recipient each year.  Mootz will join other award recipients throughout the U.S. for a two-day celebration and recognition in Washington, D.C. this June.
