Citizens Announces Test Results from Richmond Hill Incident

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group announced today that tests indicate there is no evidence of natural gas leaks from Citizens’ underground facilities in the Richmond Hill subdivision where a large explosion and fire occurred on Saturday, November 10.

Citizens conducted the following tests in cooperation with the National Transportation Safety Board and the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission:

  • Leak detection survey of the entire Richmond Hill subdivision.
  • Pressure tests of the 2-inch diameter gas main and all underground service lines on Fieldfare Way.
  • Functional test of the gas meter at the home where the explosion is believed to have originated.

Citizens will continue working with the Indianapolis Division of Homeland Security, the Indianapolis Fire Department and other agencies in the ongoing investigation into the cause of the home explosion on Fieldfare Way.
