Citizens Announces Organizational Changes in Finance Department

INDIANAPOLIS- Sabine Karner has been promoted to Vice President and Controller. Since joining Citizens in 2001 as Senior Accountant, Karner has held roles of increasing responsibility including  most recently Director of Strategic Finance.

“During her time at Citizens, Sabine has demonstrated her leadership skills not only in the finance department, but in the organization as a whole,” said Jeffrey Harrison, President and CEO of Citizens Energy Group. “We look forward to Sabine’s leadership in her new role as she directs Citizens’ accounting, financial reporting and planning functions.”

Karner is a native of Austria where she completed her education, graduating with distinction in 1990 from the Höhere Lehranstalt für wirtschaftliche Berufe in Wiener Neustadt with majors in Accounting and Foreign Languages (English and French).

Karner is active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of Sanshin Zen Community, a Soto Zen temple in Bloomington and as a founding Board member of Great Wind Zendo, a Zen Buddhist meditation community in Danville. She has volunteered her language skills to translate videos for PBS NewsHour and TED Talk and help make them globally accessible through Amara, a project of the Participatory Culture Foundation.
