Each year employees report their hours of community service to the Citizens Employee Volunteer Committee for review. Any employee volunteering at least 20 hours for an eligible not-for-profit organization may receive a gift. Any employee volunteering at least 50 hours for the same eligible non-profit may receive both a gift and a $250 contribution for the organization. During calendar year 2009, over $10,000 was contributed to various organizations through this program. Citizens retirees are also eligible for this program but must have a minimum of 50 hours and 100 hours.
Occasionally, Citizens Energy Group will designate a community project as a company "signature project." An employee who volunteers for a "signature project" will receive double his/her hours of service. United Way’s ReadUp program has been a "signature project" of Citizens Energy Group since its inception in 2008. Indiana Black Expo Summer Celebration and the IRS Tax Preparation Program are also "signature projects" of our company.
